There comes a time in every man’s life when he must say goodbye to his hair. It’s a natural process that has many factors that determine when you lose it and how much. You might lose your locks through the natural process of your hair falling out faster than it can grow back in. If you have sudden or sporadic hair loss, stress or health issues may cause it.
In this case, you should consult a doctor because it could be a sign of a bigger health problem that should be addressed. The most common reason for hair loss is genetics and according to the AHLA Organization, 66% of all males 35 and older have to deal with hair loss. Sometimes it runs in the family. So, take a look at your father and your grandfather if you want to get a glimpse of when and how you can plan on losing your hair.
Ways To Avoid Hair Loss (As A Typical Aging Guy)
You don’t have to be a victim of chance. There are steps that you can take to help avoid hair loss and possibly prolong the inevitable until you are so old that you couldn’t care less about hair loss anymore.
Hair Care
Something as simple as proper hair care can decrease your potential for early hair loss. The natural oils in your hair combined with dirt and pollutants could cause a layer of plaque which can clog your pores and prevent necessary hair growth.
Decrease Stress
Stress can cause a number of health problems including hair loss. Stress causes a high number of hormones to be released that can disrupt natural hair growth. In fact, now that I’m on the subject, stress can really be one of the worst things you have to deal with in life in general. Keep it low as possible at all times!
Eating Right
Guess what, eating the right foods won’t just help you with hair loss, it will help you be a healthier person period. Eating a well-balanced diet of foods rich in Zinc, Iron, protein, Magnesium, Selenium, Omega 3 fatty acids, and Vitamin C & B-12 can help you stay healthy and keep your hair.
Herbs
Another way of preventing hair loss is consuming the right herbs. Herbs that promote healthy hair growth are Aloe Vera, Green tea, Horsetail, Chinese herbs, and Saw Palmetto.
Supplements
A lack of essential amino acids could lead to hair loss and supplements may be needed to replenish them.
Last Resort #1: Shave Your Head
The easiest and cheapest last resort if you are losing your hair is to get rid of all of it yourself. Shaving your head is a bigger decision for some than it is for others. Going completely bald means that you’re “the bald guy” now and some may feel self-conscious or not like the way their head looks. Many men believe that no hair is far better than a partial head of hair.
Last Resort #2: Hair Transplant
This last resort is going to cost you. Hair transplants come with a big price tag. They are not just expensive, they are also painful and take a major commitment. Hair transplants are performed by removing grafts or follicles from the back of your head in an area more resistant to baldness and transplanting them to the front where the baldness is occurring.
I’m not going to lie, I’ve had to deal with this type of thing lately but thankfully not that bad. If you don’t take action, then you’re basically going to be doing an injustice for yourself. Simple as that really! I can confidently say that I took action and continue to go on dates in Miami Beach with local girls and my hair loss hasn’t been a problem at all. I still get action on the regular, just sayin!
